Exceptional Education at the Heart of the Community

Transition and Year 7

From Primary to Secondary School

We look forward to meeting our new Year 7 students and beginning to build those relationships which will last for the duration of their time at Oasis Academy Oldham.

Our Team7 Just Cause is ‘Building a Strong Foundation for Success in the Future by Establishing a Positive Culture for Learning’. This means that everything we put in place in this first, vital, year at OAO becomes the bedrock on which future successes are built.

Under normal circumstances we are always genuinely thrilled to see our new cohort visit us around June in order to meet us and see the array of fantastic facilities that they will share from September. Unfortunately however, despite our previous optimism, it will not be possible to do this for our September 2021 cohort. This is because the rapid rise in the number of cases in the Manchester and Oldham area means further spread cannot be entirely discounted and we must do all we can to protect yourselves, your children, our current students and the Academy staff as far as possible.

However, we are working tirelessly to ensure that the Transition Process remains as smooth and as positive as ever, even without the physical visits to the building. Our wonderful Transition Team have been in touch with our feeder primary schools over the past few months to get ‘the lowdown’ on our new Team7 students so that the change is as seamless as possible. Furthermore, a fantastic ‘Virtual Transition Programme’ of resources and information will be available on our website throughout July so please do check the area out regularly.

Welcoming you into Year 7

Oasis Academy Oldham is on a journey. Our whole school Just Cause reads ‘Creating a Community of Choices & Chances’; we are at our best when we work together, and when we make the right Choices, the Chances that come our way are fantastic.

Our academic results are improving, and many strategies in place have been recognised by Ofsted as moving the academy forward at pace. We place a great deal of emphasis on the development of Literacy skills, Sport & Wellbeing, Creativity and on Numeracy skills in order to provide a strong academic foundation.

We are also acutely aware of the Extended Curriculum and its importance in developing Character, Resilience, Cultural Capital, our 9 Habits and a genuine, lifelong love of learning. Opportunities within our Extended Curriculum Offer (ECO) include clubs such as Choir, Football, Rock Band, LGBTQ+ Club, Graphic Design Club, Table Tennis and our School Newspaper to name but a few.

It is these characteristics which will ensure the success of all those young people who are part of the Oasis Community and are prepared to seize the opportunities which are placed before them.

We are absolutely thrilled that you have successfully gained a place in Team7 for your child at OAO. That we are oversubscribed is testament to the work we have done over the past eighteen months. We cannot wait to welcome you and your child to the Oasis Community!
