Students from Oasis Academy Oldham have been celebrating today after securing a strong set of GCSE results.
Principal,Dominique Gobbi said, “There is a great deal for us to be proud of as a community.
“In particular the progress made by our disadvantaged students and those young people with higher prior attainment has improved significantly on previous years.
"For instance, we have quadrupled the number of Grade 9s achieved in Mathematics and nearly two thirds of students, got a 7 or above in the individual science subjects.
“These results, in partnership with the latest Ofsted report that praises our journey of improvement, show that we are making a difference to outcomes for our students.”
Among the smiling faces was Samreen Manaf who secured an A* in Further Maths, six grade 9s and a grade 8.
Huzaifa Iqbal, Saleh Uddin and Tyler Scanlon also wowed staff by not only securing strong results, but by exceeding their target outcomes by an average of at least a grade.
Ms Gobbi added, “These are exactly the kind of individual successes that are starting to become the norm at Oasis Academy Oldham.
“We want students to aspire not just to meet their target, but to exceed it. The Class of 2019 have been a very talented and dedicated group of young people.
"I am so proud of them and I’m really pleased they leave us with results that help them progress to the next stage of their education.
"They have consistently demonstrated the values and traits needed to succeed both in education and the workplace.
“They really do have a very exciting future in front of them and we look forward to hearing about their future endeavours!”
